♦ sarah's note → detroit7 is one of the those fun to listen to kind of bands. You add hyperness and harder edged rock together with Engrish and you, no doubt, get a good time. The three member group has been bounced from labels for a while but most recently was signed with Victor, this will hopefully lead to more stable releases as most of their discography is a mesh of indies and major releases with many songs ending up on multiple releases. They have also released their debut American album only this year. I encourage nabbing their first two albums to try.

Note: Added the links to their American album so if you like remember to support.

♦ sarah's note → aluto is a pop duo on the Sony label. Mixing acoustic sounds with violin they have some extremely pretty pop music. Both blend in their singing and mix well together coupled with their music. I suggest nabbing their first single to try.

Note: I'm always for adding a violin to anything. :3

Thanks for all of your suggestions on tv shows, guys!! I haven't even finished reading all of the comments, but I will definitely get through them!! Lots of good suggestions in there! ^-^

But.... BIG NEWS!!!!! I GOT MY NEW VISA TODAY!!!! It was kind of a struggle and I had to go over and over to this government institution or that office over the last two months, and get this form from the city office or that thing from Sensei or wait for this receipt or that proof-of-something. Only to have an immigration officer give me the most dubious look in the world a few days ago and talk to me in a tone of voice that said, "You are crazy, this visa is never going to fly." But it did!!!!!! I got the notice that I was approved today and changed all of my plans immediately and spent the rest of the day picking it up and taking care of other legal things! I'm now all set for the next three years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *throws a party* I really, really am considering digging into my savings to buy an ipod touch (in celebration). Or not. BUT I AM HAPPY!!!! *dances*

So, while I was in the immigration office I went to the convenience store downstairs and saw some cute things.. I was wondering, is anyone interested in random pictures of things like this? Truth be told, convenience stores ('conbini') are huge parts of life in Japan. At least, life in the city. Without them, I think that a lot of people would die for lack of food, bandages, or even shampoo. Funny because I never went to a convenience store in the states unless it was to get gas for my car (they don't have gas at conbinis here) or slurpees or those delicious do-it-yourself nachos (also not here)!

+3 pictures )

(I should be sleeping because I need to get up early tomorrow, but I am totally watching the Star Trek movie because it just came out on DVD in Japan today... couldn't help myself and had to buy it!!!! And who knew my DVD player was region-free! Not me!! =D)

Feeling absolutely and hopelessly shitty about myself right now, and I needed to let out just one sentence somewhere.

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

We'll be talking generally about ABJD, Batchix can answer questions about her dolls, too... and whatever else you'd like to discuss. I'll probably bring Usagi with me unless you guys have any requests. ^_^

And on Fri and Sat I'll be shopping AP and TA a bit. I'll probably be in lolita for the most of the con, if you see me, say hi! I'll probably be wearing plainclothes on Friday for the brief time I'm there (since I have to work), and then Wonder Party for Saturday... and then perhaps Sweets Time for Sunday. ....

----------------------------------------- NEW LOLI STUFF OUT -----
BABY just added an adorable bunny print in L size, and it's actually L (to 102 cm). They also have a skirt with a 58-100cm waist!!
I'll have to think about this. maybe brown...? since I have a couple black ones? I dunno. All the colors are really really cute. Bunnies wearing fur coats and iceskates, people. ICESKATES.
I keep thinking of how cute and classy Kumiko-san (one of BABY's designers) looked when I saw her in Tokyo wearing a darker (I think it was brown) color way of Mother Goose Starry Sky. She really impresses me. She really seems to be able to wear lolita almost all the time, but comfortable in it.

I really need to go back through my loli wardrobe and reevaluate some things. Like, I'm really just not sure if the BW version of the longest name JSK is for me. I'd have to mod it a little, and there's something about the white accents that makes it a little too sweet, I think. I'd rather have it in BXB. ..... and I'm not sure about this hot pink snowdot JSK. I LOVE IT, but it's a little small in the bust area.
But maybe I'll take some photos with them on and you guys can help me decide. <3
Thinking about what I want to wear for the Hello Kitty Bats N Cats Masq, too.
